SP2013 HOSTED - list workflow not sending email

Seems like everyone else has their own on-prem SP2013, (UNFORTUNATELY) our company is hosted at nnn.sharepoint.com! 

As such most suggestions I've come across on here do not work for hosted solutions.  Does anyone have specific experience in the following issue with a hosted SPOL2013 workflow? 

Issue: list workflow sends emails to customer's email address in the line item.  Works fine for me (administrator), but other users of the list (all with Edit & Contribute permissions) it will not work, it throws the following error...

Workflow and dashboard question

Hi there,

I'm project managing a SharePoint implementation and, although I know the basics of SharePoint's capabilities, I'm now diving into more complex requirements related to workflows and dashboards.  

Context:  We're working to consolidate our metrics (both quant and qual) from all business units on a quarterly basis.  Some of the metrics are consistent across BUs, others are unique to particular units.    

Approach:  I'm thinking we want to create either one form or multiple forms where units can add their baseline goals and progress.  After the data is entered, I want it to aggregate into an excel spreadsheet(s) so we can analyze it and ultimately create different dashboards and graphs to visually represent the units' progress.

I imagine this is possible, but is this the best approach?  What apps are the best to use?

Using Time Intelligence Filter inside KPI with a Scorecard

I am trying to take advantage of the Time Intelligence Filter inside of a KPI, so that I can add this KPI to a Scorecard and have, say, the last 5 days of data from the KPI in the Scorecard. (I have successfully created Scorecards with KPIs before, but only when the KPI returns a single value.) When I add the KPI to the Scorecard and refresh, I only get one value, not the 5 I was expecting. What do I need to do here? My KPI has 2 "columns" - the time (actually the date) and the daily value. I am using a tabular data source, from a SQL table (actually a view).

What is a Scorecard Custom Set Formula and how do I use it?

When creating a Scorecard (in Dashboard Designer) which includes a KPI, in the right "Details" frame, there is a section for "Set Formulas" and under that (along with Time, which I understand) is "Custom" which I can't find any documentation for. How can and how do I use this? (I am using tabular data sources, if that matters.)

Help with Pause for Duration while in a loop

This is my first SP 2013 work flow so am uncertain how loops after the continuation of workflows.

I have a loop as shown below. It is part of a workflow for a Question and Answer list.  This stage checks to see whether the question has been answered.  If it has, it sends an email to the person who asked the question.  If it has not, it checks to see if the Answer Due Date has passed, then it sends an email to the person who was assigned to answer the question.

I want the person who is assigned to answer the question to get a reminder email every day, thus the Pause for Duration condition.  however, if the person answers the question after receiving the reminder, it seems like the workflow would be waiting a day before the  person who asked their question would get their email.   Or, since the entire workflow is set to start on list item being changed, would it start over at the beginning of the workflow and thus come to completion at the end of the first condition in the loop?  In other words how do loops work if the list item is changed and the workflow restarted?

There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what you are trying to accomplish.

Why the form opens up in my local PC Infopath and not the browser using encoded url?

Hi, 

I have a custom form that submits to SP13 document library.  I also has a custom approval workflow for this that sends the encoded url field to approvers.  As I test the workflow, I click on the url send in the email, it starts by opening a browser and then it asks if I want to open or save the form.  I click to open, then it opens up on my PC using Infopath.  I expect this to open up in a browser because it's supposed to be a browser form.

If I click to edit the form(or approve the form) from the Document Library list in the browser then it opens up the form with data in the browser.  

How would this work for users who don't have Infopath installed?  HOw can I configured it so when clicking on the Encoded url it would always opens up in a browser even if I have InfoPath installed?

Web filter does not update list for results

Dear All,

Question related to Sharepoint Webpart List filter and a custom list. (Sharepiont 2013)

When I chose a value (Supplier A) in the Sharepoint Webpart list filter, I still need to click on one of the column titles in the custom list before the filter actually changes the view and only shows "Supplier A"

In other words, the filter does not automatically change the view.

Now I have seen a Youtube movie on the Sharepoint Webpart list filter that does work, what is going wrong?

Project Server 2013 Workflow Task Permissions Breaking Inheritance and Causing Workflow to Cancel

I have an on-premise instance of Project Server 2013 with a workflow that includes anAssigned Task to assign users to Approve or Reject a WF phase. The workflow successfully assigns the task and notifies the user of the task. However, after (or possibly just prior) the user Approves the task, the workflow is automatically cancelled. 

By default, the WF Task List is set to inherit permissions. After Approving an item, it appears that the list permissions automatically breaks inheritance, causing the workflow to cancel. This occurs somewhat regularly after resetting permissions to inherit from the parent site. Although there are stretches where the issue doesn't occur. I'm not sure what's causing the list permissions to change. 

This issue occurs in both our Dev and Prod environments. Has anyone experienced this issue with permissions breaking inheritance automatically?

I am trying to give permission to an item in  list but the user get the message that he dose not have permission.
The user should not have permissions on the list or the site.
He should only have permission on a specific item.
is there a way ?

Infopath 2013 Data Connection Wizard to Sharepoint 2013 - The operation could not be completed (already have and using root site)

Hi,

I'm having problem when trying to create a new data connection to my sharepoint 2013 sites from Infopath 2013. It says"The operation could not be completed".

Have read from the forums and all around the internet about the issue, and everyone is suggesting to make sure that we have an active site at the root.
Well, I have a root site, and in fact, I am using the root '/' for my main sharepoint site since the beginning. So, this is not the cause of my problem.

The site is normally working, no problem seen. I can open it from browser normally using hostnames, IP, etc. Allavailable infopath forms in it still working normally.

The problem is when I try to create a new data connection since a week ago. Before, everything was normal, I can create any data connection to my sharepoint normally. And when I edit my already established data connection, no problem at all.

So the problem, I think, purely lays on the 'create new data connection wizard'.

Any one can help me with this issue? I think some other people also experiencing this, but still no solution found.

SP 2013 designer workflow deployment error on new SP Farm

We are using SharePoint 2013 enterprise and InfoPath 2013 for the workflow requirements as mentioned below:

For Approval, Reminder and Alert Emails we have used SharePoint designer workflows with following details:

  1. SP2010 Workflow
    1. This is a site workflow
    2. Get Manager and other custom user profile property to identify whether the current approver has not reached beyond then department head.
    3. This is called from the SP 2013 workflow with parameter of created by field initially and later with the current approver in a loop implemented in designer workflow
  2. SP 2013 workflow
    1. This is a list workflow attached to the form library
    2. This executes the sp2010 workflow to get manager and custom user profile property to identify level of manager
    3. Then starts task process in loop assigned to manager, manager of manager and so on.  Loop ends after the approver reaches to the department head level
    4. This sets the published fields in the InfoPath form library to control the views with the current approver and state of the form based on the approval status

We are still facing issues with deploying the workflow and get the following error while publishing when the workflow is deployed from one farm to another (i.e. from dev to test environment).

Other Notes:

At the destination server, I am able to create and publish new SP 2013 and 2010 type of workflow without any error.

Debugging XSLT of Business Data List web part in SPD 2013

I am working on a Business Data List web part in SPD 2013. I want to customize that complex XSLT that got generated by the web part. It will be really helpful, if I can debug that XSLT. But I am not sure, how to debug XSLT from SPD? If at all, I need to debug through Visual Studio also, I need the XML also, which I don't have. Can anyone please help?

SP 2013 Online Workflow stops after First Task creation and does not send Email

I am using SPO and workflow designer with Nintex.

The issue I have is that all of a sudden (working in the morning then stopped in the afternoon) all the list workflows I have built stop sending task creation emails and stop after the first task is issued and no email is sent and workflow remains in a "In Progress" State forever.

Notes:

1.Tested the same workflows in Other Site Collections and they worked fine.

2. Tested at top site level and new subsite level within the same collection and workflows and email issue correctly

3. Tested workflows without creation task items in the same site and they work fine.

4. Tested SP designer workflows without Nintex and same results observed

5. Tested across multiple lists within the site and with different workflows and all observe the same behaviour (Workflow runs all actions until the first task creation action, but the first task is created and no email is sent for that task, the workflow does not continue and remains in the in progress state.

6. Checked all site Setting and permissions and they are the same as the sites that do work. *Also I never changed them any way

7. Examples below of 2 of the many workflows within our site. (! As mentioned the workflows actions complete up until the first task is created after which no more additional actions within the workflow execute and no email communications are sent out for the task created or any actions to come and workflows stays in the in progress state forever.

8. All workflows not including a create task action do complete properly. (Testing with SP designer and Nintex Separately to make sure)

Workflow Stuck Sharepoint Online Office 365

Good day.

I designed a Sharepoint workflow using Sharepoint designer, and it is over our corporative site (Office 365). Everything was running smoothly, (for almost 250-350 workflows) but suddenly the workflow stuck in Phase 1 (starting)... not giving an error but keeping the status as in progress. Actually this is an essential process in our company, so I require urgently help to fix this error.

I already checked permissions and it is running with app permissions... so I discarded that possibility.

Is there a debug tool for sharepoint online to check what's going wrong?

SharePoint 2013 + Infopath 2010 People Picker does not works when opens in Client Application but works fine in Browser

Hi,

I published a InfoPath 2010 form with only one People Picker Control to form library in a iiSharePoint 2013 site collection

When this form library is configured using Advanced setting to open InfoPath form in :

  • Client Application - People people control does not works nor it opens up the serach user panel
  • Browser - People people control works perfectly fine and also it opens up the serach user panel successfully.

We are using Claims Based Authentiaction in our Web App.

Any pointers to resolve this issue ?

SDP 2013 http webservice call to a list on parent site does not count records

SharePoint Online:

In a list on the parent site I have at least 3 records. Within a workflow on a subsite I would like to count en read the items from this list. The webservice call responses "OK" but no items were count.

Within a list on the same site I can count en read the items with the SPD workflow. So what is neccesary to count en read items on a parent site.

I readthe followingarticleand executed the instructions.

Remove reference to Publishing Feature from site template

Hi all, I have a custom site collection which I package as a wsp to deploy as a custom solution template to multiple sites.

Accidentally, years ago I've activated Publishing Features in my site template and then disabled them. I still work and create new templates from my site without any problems (ShP 2010).

Now, I've installed SharePoint 2013 and updated my site template to 2013. Then, I've created the new wsp but when I try to apply my template to a new site collection I receive an error message: "Failed to instantiate file "AlternateMediaPlayer.xaml" from module "Style LibraryMedia Player_Features\PublishingResources": Source path "Features\PublishingResources\AlternateMediaPlayer.xaml" not found."

How could I remove all the reference to features belonging to Publishing Features?

Association columns in DocumentSet

There are two content types - 'DocSets' for the document set and 'Docs' for the documents inside it. 'Docs' content type consists of two columns: 'Title' and 'Document Type' (Choice)

I created a reusable workflow and associated it with 'DocSets' content type. Then I created association column 'Document Type' from the 'Docs' content type to use it further in workflow.

When I try to use command 'Wait for Document Type to equal Agreement' nothing happens. Only the following record in history: 'Waiting on Document Type'

What I'm doing wrong? How can I use results of the association column?

How do I apply conditional formatting using SharePoint Designer 2013?

I'm attempting to apply Conditional Formatting to a list view web part via SharePoint Designer 2013, and I can't seem to find the option to do so.

I've a horrible feeling I'm just being daft, but here's what I've done so far:

- Created a new page (I've tried both web part and wiki)
- Added a list "App part" and saved the page
- Checked-out and opened the page via Designer
- Clicked the "Edit file" option
- Selected the XsltListViewWebPart tag

So far I can't find any options to add it. If I open the Conditional Formatting pane via the View menu it tells me the following:

> To use conditional formatting, select an HTML tag, data value, or
> range of text, and then click Create to specify formatting options.

I've tried selecting the web part tags in all manner of combinations with no luck. In previous version I would have simply selected the previewed data rows in the now-absent Preview pane.

Am I missing something?
